Gamma Omicron Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® awarded $7500 in scholarships to seven high school graduating female students who meet the eligibility criteria listed below.

*Applicants who participated in Fashionetta™ were given priority
consideration.

Each applicant was required to meet the following criteria:

- Be a high school graduating HS
senior.

- Be female.

- Have applied for admission to or
have been notified of acceptance by
a college or university.

- Meet the grade point average of 2.8
or higher.

Summer Fashionetta™ Promising Pearls Recruitment

Summer Fashionetta™ Promising Pearls Recruitment Process for the upcoming Informational meetings, starting in October 2023.

The major goal of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® is to promote and award excellence in academic achievement and service.

Fashionetta™ is a major fundraiser offered each year by Gamma Omicron Omega Chapter. One of the purposes of Fashionetta™, in keeping with the sorority’s mission, is to support academic achievement and generate scholarship funds for deserving young ladies in the North East Texas area. A total of 152 scholarships have been awarded to deserving graduating seniors since 1999 totaling over $161,000.

Fashionetta™ contestants, our promising pearls, will have the opportunity to attend workshops and activities which will include character development, community service, and social etiquette.

This program successfully provides life skills training and scholarship opportunities for young women who are in high school and those who will one day move on to a post-secondary institution (college or university) in their future. We are excited about this program and hope that you and your family will consider the benefit of participating in this life-changing journey.

Fashionetta™ Promising Pearls are young ladies that exemplify poise, leadership, respect, and the pursuit of excellence in their schools and communities. It is all about her success, and we must continue to inspire our young ladies to soar in academics, pursuing lifelong learning, and being compassionate about serving in their local communities.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Gamma Omicron Om

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Gamma Omicron Omega Chapter crowned the winners of the Annual Scholarship Benefit, Fashionetta Promising Pearls Gala, held at the UT Tyler Ornelas Center, on April 23.

The winners include Miss Fashionetta Vonyelle Breonna De’Vold-Burnley, Miss Junior Fashionetta Aidyn Paige Warren, Miss Petite Fashionetta Paris Sade Mims, and Miss Future Fashionetta Mila Gisselle Kemp.

The Fashionetta Promising Pearls are McKinley Leanne Mims and Kacey Elizabeth Mims.

Since its inception 50 years ago, the scholarship program has recognized girls and young women of strong character who are in pursuit of academic excellence and engage in community service.

All funds collected from the event each year are donated to chapter’s annual scholarship fund and gifted to deserving high school seniors in the East Texas area.

The 2022 benefit raised over $16,000 in scholarship funds. Benefit chairpersons are Tricia Billington, Martha McCormick, and the late Darlene M. Lewis.

Organizers extended special thanks to the planning committee, parents of our young ladies, community leaders, members who served Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Gamma Omicron Omega Chapter and chapter leadership, Dr. Takova Wallace–Gay, chapter president and Delphnie Kennedy, vice president.
