2024 Scholarship Recipients

We are honored to announce our 2024 Chapter Scholarship Winners.

Macy Fischer (Mineola High School), will be attending Texas A&M University with a major in Sports Management.

Janiecia Furch (Tyler Legacy High), plans to attend Tyler Junior College and Texas A &M University with a major in Veterinary Science. Furch participated in our scholarship benefit for three years. She won 2nd Runner Up in 2024 Miss Fashionetta category.

Jaslyn Gilliam (Tyler High School), Miss Fashionetta 2024 winner plans to attend Tyler Junior College with a major in Social Work. She is a proud member of the TJC Apache Band. Jaslynn plans to continue her undergraduate studies at Stephen F. Austin University.

Kamryn Duncan (Tyler High School) will be attending the University of North Texas with a major in Psychology. Kamyrn is the daughter of member LaTunya Duncan and sister of member Ke’Undra Mumphrey.

Ja’Kayla Snow (Tyler High School), will be attending Texas Southern University, majoring in Secondary Education.

Haylee Wideman (Tyler High School), will be attending Grambling State University with a major in Social Work.

2023 Scholarship Recipients

Gamma Omicron Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® awarded $7500 in scholarships to high school graduating female students who meet the eligibility criteria listed below. Applicants who participated in Fashionetta™ were given priority consideration.

Each applicant was required to meet the following criteria:

  • Be a high school graduating senior

  • Be female

  • Have applied for admission to or have been notified of acceptance by a college

    or university

  • Meet the grade point average of 2.8 or higher

Greetings from the members of Gamma Omicron Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and welcome to our official website.  We are proud to be a part of the first Greek-lettered organization organized by and for college-educated African American women. It is an honor and truly a privilege to serve as the president of this dynamic and engaged chapter.

The members of Gamma Omicron Omega (GOO) proudly give their time, talent and resources to meet the needs of our region and to be Forever in Service to all mankind.

As members we are thankful for the opportunity to serve in our community through the outstanding programmatic targets of our former International President & CEO, Dr. Glenda Glover.  We served whole-heartly, “Exemplifying Excellence through Sustainable Service†and will continue to strengthen partnerships to address the needs of our community under the six new initiatives. Strengthen Our Sisterhood will serve as the new administration’s “Foundation Initiative†as we strengthen our bonds to support our service mission. We congratulate Danette Anthony Reed, newly-elected, International President & CEO of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

The remaining five initiatives will serve as the “Program Initiatives†which include:

Build Our Economic Wealth
Enhance Our Environment
Advocate for Social Justice
Uplift Our Local Community

These initiatives are designed to improve the lives of those we serve. The Gamma Omicron Omega Chapter is proud to be a part of this international organization of over 1000 other chapters and 114 years of service to all mankind. We are proud to serve our community and remain equally devoted to the local signature services of GOO such as, East Texas Food Bank, Lollar Street Clean-Up, Watkins-Logan Veterans Home, and Rusk State Hospital, among others.
